Volume 2, No. 1, June 2008 The Board of Directors is very happy to announce that our first fundraiser (August 2007) brought in approximately $5000!!! On August 15, 2007, the New York Horse Park, Inc. held its First Annual Fundraiser at the Beresford Gallery on Union Avenue in Saratoga Springs, NY. There was a good turnout; many attendees had their pictures taken with world famous jockey Jose Santos and there was spirited bidding on the ‘horses with hysterical pedigrees’. The weather was great and the silent auction items brought good prices. Everyone enjoyed themselves and most attendees said they were looking to coming back next year. We are now in the midst of planning for our Second Annual Fundraiser – look for future announcements. The New York Horse Park Board of Directors again thanks the very generous individuals and organizations that helped make our first fundraiser such a success. INFORMATIONAL BUSINESS MIXER SERIES UNDERWAY The NYHP Board of Directors has now hosted two in a planned series of informational business mixers for local business leaders and owners. The first two mixers were held at Longfellows Restaurant in Saratoga Springs on Wednesday, March 26 and on Tuesday, May 20. Longfellow’s owner, Stephen Sullivan, most generously donated use of one of the conference rooms as well as use of the projection equipment for our PowerPoint presentation. The purpose of the mixers is to highlight the economic importance any horse park brings to a locale and state as well as to keep the community informed as to our progress in establishing a New York Horse Park in this region. We are also using these mixers as a forum to solicit input and support for our next fundraiser. If you know someone who would like to attend one of our mixers, please contact Marsha Himler, President, at
